6 Effective Tips on How to Deal With Yeast Infection Symptoms

There may come a time where you have to deal with the symptoms of a yeast infection and are unsure where to turn. It could be that you are actually suffering right now from the effects of the infection and it has led you right to this article. In the event that you have had to deal with a yeast infection before or any of the previously mentioned reasons, this article will help you with effective tips on how to deal with yeast infection symptoms.

1      While silk underwear is sexier that cotton panties, it does not allow proper airflow to the vaginal area. The cotton panties will allow air to circulate near the vagina during the night and day and can help in preventing the yeast infection from even occurring.

2     Garlic and unsweetened yogurt has been shown to actually slow down the growth or even prevent yeast infections. Visit your local health food store or pharmacy and find garlic pills. If you are concerned about the smell, they do have a deodorized version available. When shopping for yogurt, make certain that it contains live cultures in it to help control the yeast infection.

3      One of the ways to treat the yeast infection is to create a natural home remedy. Purchase tea tree oil and mix in a dash of almond oil, then apply the mixture directly to the region around the vagina. Never use the tea tree oil without diluting it or you will experience burning and discomfort. The oil mixture can help relieve the pain and discomfort you feel and help to control the yeast infection symptoms.

4      Stop wearing pants that are extremely too skinny or too tight. They may look attractive, but the reduction in air flow will only put you at a higher risk for getting a yeast infection. The tighter the pants, the less chance your pelvic area has to breathe, and without that air flow you are just creating the perfect environment for the yeast infection to thrive. Looser pants will make you more comfortable and reduce the symptoms quickly.

5      If you notice that your infection has spread to your mouth, make certain to avoid sexual contact or kissing for at least a week until the symptoms have subsided. Wash all your dishes and utensils thoroughly after eating and start rinsing out your mouth with a mixture of warm water and salt. This will help to soothe the discomfort and stop the spread of the infection.

6      If you are not seeing your symptoms improve, consider the contraceptives that you might be taking. If your contraceptive does contain high amounts of estrogen, this could be one of the contributing factors in your problem. Consult with a physician to see if there are any alternatives to the birth control you are currently taking that will not contribute to your yeast infection symptoms.

The advice in this article is designed to help you deal with your yeast infection symptoms and help to prevent those symptoms from appearing in the first place. Follow just a few of the tips in this article and you will help to curb those symptoms from taking over your life.  If you would like more information on how to eliminate your infection long term, click right here.

The Link Between Yeast Infection & Diabetes

Why Does Being Diabetic Make Vaginal Yeast Infections More Likely?

Over the course of their lifetimes, the majority of women will experience one or more yeast infections. There is a particular risk for women who are diabetic, since this affects the yeast cells normally present in the vagina. Usually, the small amount of nutrients in the vagina's acidic surroundings keep these under control. Diabetic women, however, will have higher levels of sugar - more precisely, glucose - in the secretions from their vagina. This is because their blood is also higher in glucose.

The surplus of glucose helps to feed the yeast cells, which then greatly increase in number, causing an infection. This should be prevented by the body's immune system, but its functions are affected by hyperglycemia. It's sometimes the case that one sign of an infection elsewhere in the body is a yeast infection. Alternatively, it may mean unstable levels of blood glucose.

What Symptoms Do Vaginal Yeast Infections Have?

There are several common signs of this type of infection. It may hurt to have sex or urinate. Sometimes there is an unpleasant odor. Cottage cheese-like white secretions and an uncomfortable, itchy sensation near the vagina are also common symptoms. Even so, not all women will see any symptoms. It's possible for yeast infections to show up in places like the mouth - where it's known as thrush - skin folds, or certain parts of the feet. Women with access sites for dialysis may also experience them there. It's possible for more serious infections to result from yeast infections, but they can be uncomfortable on their own.

How Can You Tell if You Have a Yeast Infection?

It's necessary to have a medical examination, which will check to see whether there may other reasons for your symptoms. These may include sexually transmitted diseases or bacterial infections. Yeast can be spotted by looking at a sample of your cells under a microscope. In a small number of cases, additional tests in the lab may be required in order to give you a definite diagnosis.

What Effect Can Yeast Infections Have on Diabetes?

Your body is naturally protected against infection, but these defense mechanisms are blocked by yeast, including in the vagina. A diabetic woman with a yeast infection is more prone to getting additional infections. The reason is that high blood sugar levels and yeast, taken together, make it harder for your body to fight against viruses and bacteria. Since the infection-fighting process can lead to large variations in blood sugar levels, infection is a significant danger for diabetic people.

How Can Yeast Infections be Treated?

There are a variety of anti-fungal medications available, both by prescription and over the counter. These are effective for use in diabetic people. Before you begin to take any medication, you should consult with a health care professional to check that oral anti-fungals will not affect any regular medication you may be taking. An alternative is to use a vaginal medication. Research has suggested that two weeks' treatment may be needed to beat a yeast infection in diabetic women. Nystatin and other oral and topical anti-fungal agents can be obtained by prescription. These can be used against yeast infections in other areas of the body.

If you're a person with diabetes who is fighting a yeast infection, it's very important to follow the instructions your health care provider supplies. You should always take all the medication that has been recommended. It can be dangerous to finish a course of medication early simply because you feel stronger. This can lead to your infection coming back in a more serious way.

What Should Woman Ask Their Health Care Providers?

As soon as you have a solid diagnosis, you should ask about what treatment options are recommended. As an example, you can ask whether oral medications or vaginal cream would work best. If you suffer from several yeast infections each year - usually defined as more than four - then it's a good idea to ask for a check on your diabetes control. This is because excessively high blood sugar can be a cause of yeast infections.

How to Prevent Yeast Infection From Antibiotics (Part 2)

Last time where we discussed foods to avoid when preventing a yeast infection whilst on antibiotics, let examine in more detail the lifestyle changes that are important.

Rearrange your lifestyle
  1. Use only cotton underwear. By doing so, you will prevent extra moisture from developing in your intimate areas. Therefore, while you are on antibiotics, try to replace your satin and lace underwear with cotton.
  2. Don`t wear clothes that fit too tight. To allow enough air to circulate around your intimate areas, you need to avoid wearing tight pants, pantyhose or elastic undergarments. Yeast infections can easily grow in case the vagina area is moist.
  3. Protect yourself with condoms during sex. Condoms will help you to maintain a balance in the pH level inside of the vagina, since semen has a different pH.

Maintain a proper hygiene
  1. Considering the fact that douching can encourage yeast infections growth, you need to avoid this douching while on antibiotics. There are numerous chemicals included in douches that affect the good bacteria in the vagina. Moreover, douching can even alter the pH level in the vagina.
  2. Do not use perfumes or feminine sprays. You may get irritated in case you use products with artificial scents. Therefore, avoid putting perfumes or sprays on your vagina. In case you want to use a similar product, you can search for a spray that contains water and essential oils.
  3. Replace tampons with unscented pads. Whenever you are taking antibiotics, you should replace tampons with pads. Look for unscented products to avoid any kind of irritation.
  4. Clear yourself thoroughly after using the restroom. In order to avoid transferring the bacteria from the anal area to the vagina, you need to wipe from front to back. You should always keep you vaginal area dry and clean.
  5. The toilet paper should be unscented as well. Avoid using dyes and fragrances to wipe your vaginal area as they can encourage the growth of yeast.

The Best Way to Prevent Yeast Infections From Antibiotics

Considering the fact that all antibiotics attack both the bacteria that are affecting your health and the bacteria that keeps you vagina healthy, the chances of developing yeast infections are quite high. When taking antibiotics, women can use the same day-to-day practices to prevent yeast infections. These practices consist of following some simple dietary advices, maintaining a proper hygiene and wearing the proper clothes during the periods when they take antibiotics.

Following some simple dietary tips
  1. According to professional doctors, consuming yogurt is recommended during these periods since it can help women avoid yeast infections. Lactobacillus acidophilus is a common bacterium responsible for maintaining a balanced chemistry in the vagina, and it can also be found in yogurt. To keep this bacterium at normal levels, and prevent the development of Candida albicans, all women should consume yogurt when taking antibiotics.
You need to make sure that the type of yogurt that you purchase contains Lactobacillus acidophilus, considering the fact that not all brands include this ingredient on their list. You should opt for plain yogurts.
When taking antibiotics, you will need to consume at least one serving of yogurt on a daily basis. It is also recommended to continue with the consumption even if you have stopped taking the antibiotics to eliminate all risks of developing yeast infections.
  1. Try to consume fermented foods. Apart from yogurt, there are also other effective foods that can help you prevent yeast infections. Some examples include kimchi, sauerkraut, kombucha, and fermented tea. All these foods contain important ingredients and probiotics that help maintain a proper balance of your system.
You will find numerous companies that have decided to add probiotics into their products simply because they help regulate our digestive system. Visit your local store and search for cheese, huices, cereal and granola bars that include probiotics.
People that dislike eating yogurt of fermented foods can also benefit from the advantages of probiotics by searching for probiotics supplements. Even though they come in the form of pills, they contain the identical healthy bacteria that can be found in the foods mentioned previously.
  1. Eat lots of garlic. This amazing natural food can help you stay clear of infections due to its antifungal properties. Therefore, you should add this herb on your diet`s list in case you are on antibiotics. If you are scared that your breath will smell like garlic, you can opt for garlic supplements.
To prevent yeast infections, a big number of women simply apply garlic directly to the vagina. You can do the same by wrapping a peeled clove of garlic in a small piece of cheesecloth. After you have tied it off, a tail should remain available on the end. The tail will be used to easily remove the cheesecloth from your vagina after a couple of hours of usage.

  1. Search for goldenseal supplements. This type of supplement is also very efficient in combating yeast infections. However, you need to pay a visit to your local doctor before you decide to take this herbal supplement.
  2. Lower the sugar consumption. Sugar favors extra yeast growth, especially when it is consumed in high amounts. Therefore, you should eliminate all foods or soft drinks that are rich in sugar and replace them with fruits or raw honey.
  3. Stay aware from foods fermented with yeast. Even though there is no clear evidence that alcoholic beverages, breads, and other foods made with yeast can lead to yeast infections, it is recommended to limit the intake of these foods.

How To Get Rid of Candida: Why Is It So Hard?

To understand why getting rid of candida is harder than getting rid of a bacterial infection, you must first of all familiarize yourself with how candida overgrowth manifests itself in the body. First and foremost, it is important to note that approximately 80% of all candida yeast infections occur when medication i.e. primary antibiotics and birth control pills among other drugs kill friendly bacteria found in the digestive tract.

Long-term exposure to candida and candida spores from your spouse or family can also cause candida overgrowth. This accounts for approximately 10% of all candida overgrowth cases. The exposure can be anything from kissing to food sharing since candida spores can be inhaled. The other 10% of all candida overgrowth cases occur during child birth. During child birth, babies don’t have a developed immune system. They also have very little or no friendly bacteria in their system. This makes them susceptible to candida overgrowth when they are exposed to the fungus during birth.

Candida overgrowth therefore stems from long-term exposure. This is one of the main reasons why it’s so hard to get rid of candida. The good news is; you will find it extremely easy to fight candida using supplements in anyway including using them to eliminate candida in your child. The bad news is; candida overgrowth has escalated into an epidemic after decades of antibiotic use which has lead to a sharp increase in the number of mothers passing on the problem to their children at birth. When you couple this with the increasing number of vaccines being given to infants today, it is easy to see the genesis of other epidemics like autism affecting our children. Consider doing more research at health- reports.com/autism/html.

When most of your friendly flora is destroyed and your immune system weakened, oxygen loving candida flourish developing into anaerobic fungi which doesn't need oxygen-rich blood supply. This simply means that the fungus is capable of existing anywhere in the body independently. Initially candida fungi are usually present in the intestinal tract where they weaken the intestinal wall with the toxic chemical waste they produce i.e. acetylaldahyde, which is the same chemical responsible for causing a hangover. Acetylaldahyde irritates the intestinal wall causing damage. Candida fungi are able to drill holes on the weak intestinal wall causing poor digestion and a leaky gut.

These holes help candida to spread throughout the body establishing themselves systemically over time. A leaky gut also aids the entry of partially digested food into the bloodstream. This food can’t be used by body cells. Your immune system must find a way of getting rid of the food. This results in food allergies which is one of the most common signs of candida overgrowth. Since candida yeast thrives on sugar, the yeast excretes chemicals that cause sugar cravings among other cravings i.e. carbohydrates cravings. The yeast usually digests food sugars before you body uses them. Your cravings are therefore capable of causing low blood sugar levels.

At night, candida has a lot of time to consume your blood sugars. Your body compensates for blood sugar deficiency by pushing your adrenals to work harder which eventually causes adrenal fatigue. You may also experience fatigue from the acetylaldahyde present in your system. Since adrenal glands are linked with the thyroid gland, the gland will also start under-performing causing low metabolism and decreased temperature regulation.

8 Easy Tips For Curing Yeast Infection Quickly & Naturally..

Vaginal yeast infections are triggered by the overgrowth of a fungus known as Candida albicans normally found in the body. The fungus is usually harmless however, this changes when the fungus proliferates after being exposed to certain environmental conditions i.e. warmth and moisture. This results in yeast infection symptoms like irritation, white discharge, redness, intense itching and burning in the vagina. Yeast infection can be cured using medication or natural methods. In this article, we will be concerned with natural yeast infection cures. If you are interested in discovering these cures, below are some of the proven methods of curing yeast infection naturally and easily.

1 Eat yogurt

Eating yogurt is one of the most effective natural cures of yeast infection. This can be attributed to the fact that yogurt contains helpful bacteria i.e. live cultures including bifidus and acidophilus which are known to destroy yeast. Yogurt also works wonders when applied topically. You should however use plain yogurt only with active cultures. Most flavored yogurts aren't rich in active cultures. They also contain unwanted additives which may end up causing more harm than good. Probiotics in yogurt are known to boost immune system functions i.e. increase resistance to infections. Probiotics also maintain good bacteria in the digestive tract which sets a good foundation for good health. Yogurt that is rich in active cultures is a perfect source for beneficial bacteria.   Increasing these good bacteria will help replenish the lost good bacteria in your body.

2. Take probiotics supplements

Yogurt isn't the only source of probiotics. Probiotics supplements are readily available today in capsules or powder in supermarkets and pharmacies. To cure yeast infection, you should consume probiotics supplements frequently with food until all the yeast infection symptoms disappear.

3. Consume coconut oil

Coconut oil is one of the top anti-fungal foods known to man. The oil also contains fatty acids which help to eliminate yeast. A daily dosage of 2 - 4 tablespoons of coconut oil is recommended if you want to cure yeast infection effectively. One of the most effective coconut oil fatty acids is caprylic acid. It is important to note that caprylic acid is available as a supplement. On its own, the supplement is also effective in treating yeast infection provided you take it as recommended.

4. Consume oil of oregano

This oil has also been proven to be effecting in destroying Candida albicans. The oil has antibacterial, antiviral and anti-fungal properties. You can consume the oil by mixing it with hot water or beverages like tea. To cure yeast infection effectively, you can make oregano tea using hot water and 2 teaspoons of dried oregano. You should consume the drink 3 times daily for the fastest results. Alternatively, you can consume oregano as a supplement. In such a case, 250 – 500 mg 3 times daily is an appropriated dosage for treating yeast infection. It is however important to note that oil of oregano shouldn't be used by pregnant women.

5. Take acidophilus/lactobacillus supplements

These supplements are also known to cure yeast infection. You should however take them according to the directions given.

6. Eliminate or decrease intake of sugary foods and sugary

Refined, processed sugar is known to promote yeast growth. Following this tip will result in an unfavorable environment for yeast.

7. Use garlic clove/s as a suppository

Garlic is a very effective natural anti-fungal agent. Inserting freshly peeled clove/s wrapped in gauze into the vagina has been proven to treat yeast infection.

The Home Candida Test: How To Tell If You Have Candida

Confirming you have a candida infection is as challenging as getting rid of candida completely. It is therefore advisable to make sure you have candida before you decide to spend your hard earned money on candida medication, supplements or diets. Assuming you have candida symptoms isn't enough you must visit your doctor for proper diagnosis. Alternatively, you can take a home test for confirmation.

The test

Before going to bed, fill a clear glass with water and place it nearby (preferably by your bed). When you wake up in the morning, rinse your mouth and then gather saliva and spit into the glass filled with water. You must make sure you spit saliva only (not mucus). Examine the water for approximately 30 minutes. If you have candida, you will see the following in your glass;

1. Strings hanging from the saliva.
2. Heavy looking saliva accumulation at the bottom.
3. Cloudy specks suspensions in the water.

If within a few minutes (i.e. three minutes after splitting into the glass of water), you notice strings hanging down, cloudy specks or debris accumulation at the bottom, this is an indication that you have extensive candida overgrowth. This will require very serious candida fighting solution. In the case where it takes longer for you to see the above indicators, you most probably have a mild form of candida. If saliva floats on top leaving the water clear, you most likely don’t have candida overgrowth at all.

How the candida test works

The logic behind the above candida test is very simple. If you are suffering from candida overgrowth, it will most likely manifest itself in the saliva which is a perfect environment for yeast overgrowth. Once you spit into the water, aerated saliva is obviously lighter than water. Candida is however heavier than both aerated saliva and water.

Whether it accumulates at the bottom, sinks or floats in the water, these are all candida indications. The faster you see it, the more severe the infection is. Candida is known to concentrate itself in saliva at night. This test is therefore more accurate when done in the morning just after waking up. Rinsing your mouth first is important to eliminate mold that may be present in your saliva if you happen to sleep in a room with mold.

Many people have doubts on the accuracy of this candida test however I have suggested this test to many people and the results have been nothing short of accurate. Clear water with no debris is an indication that you don't have candida overgrowth. The other results mentioned above are a sure sign of candida overgrowth. From my years of experience, everyone who tests positive using the spit test has candida symptoms.

Some individuals with candida have even tested negative on stool and blood tests even though they manifested clear candida symptoms. It is therefore accurate to conclude that the spit test can be more accurate than some candida tests carried out by doctors.   For complete certainty & piece of mind though, I would strongly recommend carrying out the home test - and visiting a doctor for further confirmation.
